Fiji
Welcome to Fiji, the “Soft Coral Capital of the World.” With warm, crystal-clear waters and vibrant reef systems teeming with marine life, Fiji is a paradise for both novice and experienced divers. From drift diving through the famous Rainbow Reef and Great White Wall, to swimming alongside manta rays in the Yasawas or sharks in Beqa Lagoon. The country's welcoming culture, expert local dive operators, and world-class resorts make it easy to combine incredible underwater exploration with relaxation on land. Only a few hours from East Coast of Australia, with flights daily, this is a fantastic choice for divers of all ability.
When to go
Fiji's water remains a glorious 28dg average year-round, however November - March is wet season and occasional cyclones are possible. The cooler months of April - October are still sunny however slightly cooler in the evenings.
How to get there
There are several airlines (Qantas, Virgin and Fiji Airways) that currently fly to Fiji from most major cities. There are daily connections and direct flights every day from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
Where to stay
There are a few different dive regions in Fiji:
For shark diving adventures, dive in Beqa Lagoon. We recommend staying at either Beqa Lagoon Resort over on Beqa Island, or you can stay at the Pearl South Pacific Resort on the main island of Viti Levu and dive with Aquatrek.
For soft coral gardens and walls, head towards Rainbow Reef and the Great White Wall, in the area around Taveuni and the Somosomo Strait. We love to stay and dive with The Remote Resort or Paradise Taveuni. Alternatively you could stay on the northern tip of the main island of Viti Levu, and stay and dive with renowned dive resort Volivoli.
Highlights
We love Fiji because of the uber laid back and welcoming vibe. Life here is slow - "island time" at it's best. Combine this change of pace with the prevalant Pacific Island culture, warm water year round and the vibrancy of the soft corals, and we think this is possibly the most relaxing dive trip possible. We are certainly here for that!
