Maldives

The Maldives is a world-renowned diving destination, celebrated for its warm, clear waters, thriving coral reefs, and exceptional marine biodiversity. One of the most exhilarating experiences is diving in Fuvahmulah, where tiger shark encounters are guaranteed year-round. This unique atoll, isolated in the deep south, offers close-up views of these majestic predators along with the chance to see thresher sharks, hammerheads, and oceanic mantas. For those looking to explore more of the Maldives, liveaboard dive trips provide access to some of the country's most iconic atolls, including Ari, Baa, Vaavu, and Rasdhoo. These itineraries offer unforgettable dives with whale sharks, manta ray cleaning stations, and vibrant coral pinnacles, making the Maldives a dream destination for divers of all levels.

When to go

If you want to go by liveaboard, it is recommended to travel in dry season, November - May. Fuvamulah is a land-based trip, and although it is wetter on land there during the middle months of the year, it is still great diving.

How to get there

The best flight schedules to get to Maldives is either with Singapore Airlines via Singapore to Male, OR you can also travel with Sri Lankan Airlines via Colombo. You can make the transit a stopover with both of those options if you are after a fun twist to your trip!

Where to stay

The Maldives offers a few options in terms of style of holiday. For divers, we recommend doing a liveaboard itinerary - there are loads to choose from, including the Master Fleet, the Pearl Fleet and a fantastic cost-effective option of the Princess Sara Liveaboard. Many of these boats offer 7-night itineraries and they are usually dive-heavy options, so it makes the most of visiting this destination.
To visit Fuvamulah, and do guaranteed tiger shark diving, we recommend staying at Maathundi and diving with Scuba Expeditions. This is also a fantastic, cost-effective option which offers activities other than diving also.

Highlights

The real highlight of diving in the Maldives has to be the big stuff! This is the only place we know of that offers a guarantee for diving with a specific animal, but also this is one of the best places in the world for Mantas.
